As the Brooklyn Spectator notes, “When Suzi Shelton takes the stage with her guitar and her band, you know that something special is about to happen.”
“Hand in Hand is a jubilant delight. Highly recommended!” - Midwest Book Review
"SUZI SHELTON'S NO NEWCOMER TO THE KINDIE SCENE, BUT HER LATEST ALBUM SOUNDS 100% BRAND-NEW. IT COULD JUST AS EASILY BE PLAYING THROUGH A BROOKLYN HIPSTER'S IPHONE AS A FAMILY IPAD. AT ITS CORE "HAND IN HAND" IS STILL THE EMPOWERING, KID-FOCUSED FOLK-POP WE'VE COME TO EXPECT, BUT THERE'S A NEW BEAT HERE THAT'S INFECTIOUS AND EAR-GRABBING."
Award-winning children's recording artist Suzi Shelton released her fourth family album this past spring which is filled with upbeat, inspiring and powerful songs about believing in yourself as well as more whimsical songs about ladybugs and raindrops, and has proudly taken home a 2018 NAPPA Award as well as a 2018 Parents' Choice Foundation Recommended Award!
Her new musical style is eclectic-pop with a more modern edge and is co-produced by two of her band mates, Greg Mayo (Jon Bon Jovi, Blood, Sweat & Tears) and Dan Weiner (STOMP, America's Got Talent Band). Her new album is all about inclusion and uses socially conscious messages to remind everyone that they can be comfortable in their own skin and express themselves joyously.
Suzi has been performing for families for over 15 years, including some of the most prestigious venues and programs that are offered to families throughout NYC, such as Symphony Space, Battery Park City's "Go Fish," Madison Square Kids, The Jewish Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and Lincoln Center's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, to name a few. Suzi is a regular at Jalopy Theater and School of Music in Red Hook, Brooklyn where she hosts a monthly show for families on the 4th Sunday of every month.
Suzi also produces a popular video series on YouTube entitled "Sing with Suzi," which holds high acclaim with the playground set far and wide. Suzi's shows are engaging, entertaining and full of love!
Suzi released her third solo family album in 2014, entitled "Smile In My Heart," produced by Marc Bazerman, which is a "Feel Good For Everybody" collection of 12 new songs and 3 music videos including "Go, Fire Truck, Go," "Cinnamon Bear," and "Tomboy In A Princess Dress," and is currently working on her 4th album to be released in early 2018.
In addition to her newer songs, Suzi is perhaps best known for her crowd pleasing "fist pumping" songs like "Goin' On A Road Trip," "Tomboy In A Princess Dress," and "Scooter Boy," as well as her more folk inspired songs such as "So Long Chocolate Cake," and her lovely rendition of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
In 2006, Suzi formed her company, SUZIMUSIC where she released her first solo award-winning album Simply Suzi, produced by Dan Siegler. Her second album (also award-winning) released in 2008, No Ordinary Day, includes some of her most requested songs "Goin' on a Road Trip," "Scooter Boy," and "No Ordinary Day."
With awards from Parents' Choice, the Children's Music Web, iParenting Media and a 2007 Gold Award from the National Parenting Publications, Suzi continues to gain national critical acclaim as well as a loyal following in her home base of Brooklyn, NY.
Suzi is also the host of Gymboree Play & Music DVDs award winning "The Very Brave Elephant and His Friends" and "Let's Get Moving! Trains, Cars and Planes."
