Nothing
Nothing
Nothing was formed in 2011 by Domenic Palermo. Previously Palermo was the brains behind the early 2000′s hardcore/punk act Horror Show. in 2002 Horror Show was put on hold after Palermo was incarcerated for a stabbing that eventually led to a 2 year prison sentence. Upon his return Palermo would take a lengthy hiatus from music. In 2011 Palermo released a demo tape titled “Poshlost” under the moniker Nothing.
After several attempts at constructing a solid lineup for the band Palermo met Brandon Setta. Setta would bring a lush, rich soundscape and a fresh approach to Palermo’s vision for Nothing. Setta and Palermo would handle the writing for the next release, a very rare 12″ EP that was released on Japanese boutique label Big Love Records called Suns And Lovers(A play off of the D.H. Lawernce book). It was limited to 300 copies and the bands share was donated back to the label for a Tsunami Relief Charity. The next release, Downward Years To Come was a 5 song EP and was recorded at the Rubber Tracks Studio in Brooklyn with Kyle “Slick” Johnson. The record was released by Baltimore Label A389 Records in November 2012. Written by Palermo and Setta, the concept behind Downward Years To Come was a dedication to several different poets who had taken their own lives. Setta and Palermo would again head into the studio, this time with Jeff Zeigler at Uniform Recordings to write their debut LP, Guilty Of Everything and sign with Relapse Records.
RLYR
RLYR
Magic Bullet Records has slated Delayer, the debut album from Chicago’s RLYR (pronounced “relayer”), to be released June 17. The trio boasts a lineup comprised of some of the most esteemed members of the city’s experimental rock community: Steven Hess (also of Locrian), Colin DeKuiper (also of Bloodiest, ex: Russian Circles) and Trevor Shelley de Brauw (also of Pelican). Existing at some hypnotic cross-section of guitar-forward indie, noise, punk, prog, and post-punk, the band represents some of the most energized music in each player’s storied career. Spanning four songs in 42 minutes, Delayer is epic in scope, but pointedly direct in its approach, recalling the charged anthemics of mid ‘80s SST via the explosive catharsis of post-hardcore. The band will head out on a brief tour in support of the album, including shows with kindred spirits United Nations, The Armed, Cloakroom, and many more (full dates below).

Initially formed as an improvisational guitar/drum duo of Trevor and Steven at the behest of Keith Utech for the second installment of Utech Music Festival in late 2013, the two musicians sensed an immediate connection and continued playing together with the intention of properly documenting the piece they’d performed at the festival. Within weeks it became apparent that the project was becoming a proper band and required low end augmentation, leading the duo to enlist Colin DeKuiper on bass. Renowned for their energized performances, the band has become a staple of the Chicago live music scene, providing support for Coliseum, Deafheaven, The Twilight Sad, Holy Sons, Six Organs of Admittance, Greys, and many more.
