NO WALLS: A Benefit for Marginalized Chicago Communities
NO WALLS: A Benefit for Marginalized Chicago Communities
No Walls: A Benefit for Marginalized Chicago Communities seeks to provide awareness and support for communities in need. As we face an uncertain future, we hope to pool resources from the local arts community to aid those that have the potential to be most affected.

No Walls was conceived by John Ugolini, show promoter at Beat Kitchen and owner of Kickstand Productions, Jennifer Cumberworth, iO performer, and Kelly Johnson, local musician. After the 2016 election results, many of our friends and family felt helpless against an upcoming presidential term carried out by fear and intolerance. We hope we can alleviate these disaffected feelings by donating our time and money to organizations that support those discriminated based on gender, race, and religion.

We will be holding a daylong No Walls Benefit on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at Beat Kitchen. The day will feature music, comedy, storytelling, and speakers. We will close out the night with a concert. There will be a suggestion donation of $10 at the door. 100 percent of the proceeds generated that day will be given to Chicago House, Howard Brown, Thresholds, and Chicago Women’s Health.
Troubled Hubble
Troubled Hubble
Chicago Garage Soul Dance Party. Live soul music performed by gentlemen lotharios.
Mother Nature
Mother Nature
Mother Nature is an American hip hop force made up of KLEVAH, also known as Shasta Knox from Champaign, IL and T.R.U.T.H, also known as Tierney Reed born in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, IL.

The two emcees came together as a duo in the fall of 2015 and will release their first project, Mother Nature EP in Spring 2016.

Their high energy live shows elevate Urbana-Champaign’s hip hop creditability with music that slays the spectacular violence that produces "insert name here" hashtags and slaughters slow death, the kind that often and specifically haunts Black women and girls.

Mother Nature is a delivered promise. As the best of hip hop, they mix advanced lyricism, progressive social commentary, and masterful production with an abundance of love for all people who want to live a full, free, and creative life.
The Avantist
The Avantist
Smart and charming and funny, the Avantist is a band slowly and deservedly on the rise. Its work ethic and time together are testaments to the strength of the group's talents and clear sense of vision. And although any number of bands can claim similar attributes, few (if any) can throw out this simple fact: All four Avantist members are brothers.

Fernando, Erick, David and Luis Arias grew up in a musical home. Their father had a rich life in the industry working as a mariachi performer and later as a DJ for Spanish-language radio stations in the Chicagoland area. The brothers credit his strong interests as a leading source of inspiration for the music they continue to make today.

The Avantist is on the brink of a breakthrough, hard at work completing its debut album, "Terasoma," which the band hopes to release in early 2016. "Terasoma" is the culmination of years of refinement and dedication. The four formed the Avantist more than seven years ago when Luis, the youngest, was only 13 years old. Since these early days, the four have settled on a unique, nostalgic and precise sound fueled by a strong sense of voice and heart."
